Synopsis:

• A young man justifies away any thoughts or ambitions to substantially improve his life.
• The video begins and ends with the young man singing Jim Croce’s Time in a Bottle—focusing on the words “The first thing that I’d like to do”.
• This guy walks the stairs and escalators in an airport—watching the plane leave and as he sits in the airport he ponders that he could buy a ticket but then concludes he doesn’t need to go anywhere.
• Flashbacks of him cleaning cars in a car wash—he concludes that every time he moves his hands, the money in his bank account increases. He also visits his favorite deli—convinced that the food is great.
• While on a city bench, he determines that if he goes into business someday he’ll sell really good stuff—then he justifies not having a car because buses are long—even longer than limousines and comfortable.
• This guy is making decisions not to go anywhere – fast.  
• The video is shot out of focus in many parts—to reiterate the young man’s emotional and spiritual dilemma.

Application:

• The steps of the righteous man are ordered by God.
• Sometimes fear of change keeps people from stepping out of their comfort zones.
• Often when people are scared to take risks—they find fault with others—this guy has problems with limousines, and traveling but is really masking his own fear.
• No matter whom much we want to do something—nothing will get done unless we take initiative.
• God wants us to carry out the purposes He has for it. This video is comedic—yet sad because the young man is already old—because his own actions confine him.
