Synopsis:

• Outside an upscale skyscraper that has flowers in bloom, a homeless man sits alone on the sidewalk, bent over, rocking with his belongings and grocery cart.
• His back to the camera, people pass by – some don’t acknowledge him, others gawk but no one stops to inquire about his dilemma.
• The camera stays in one position—as vehicles and pedestrians pass by the lonely man.
• Opening shot shows the building and cuts to a buss passing by.
• Interesting use of camera fade-outs as people pass by. The final frame as a simple question superimposed: “Salvation over self”

Application:

• It’s easy to ignore the hurting humanity right before us
• Modern-day “Good Samaritans” recognize the dignity of the hurting
• Even though most of us may not end up physically on the street – alone, each of us experience that feeling of separation from God at one time or another
• As part of the Christian journey, do we really practice salvation over self?
