Description 

Main Point:  Folly and anger prevail when self is elevated over others.

Synopsis:

  • A Monday morning office meeting quickly disintegrates into a brawl making it impossible for constructive productivity.
  • Office politics quickly get personal after the team leader puts Freebert on the spot to show him his proposal for making money.
  • Insults and accusations abound as Freebert is accused of having no brain or sense of style in his choice of tie and shoes.
  • A free-for-all ensues as co-workers let their own egos, insecurities, judgments, and baggage get in the way of office decorum.
  • The lack of respect and disdain for one another becomes painfully apparent as each wants their own way; the woman with the Big Idea to the man feeling “vexed”.
  • When one man finally advises that he’d like to “refer the group to the words of Jesus Christ”, no one seems interested. The team leader actually picks up a a sword.
  • Set to Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake (Nutcracker), the melodrama which uses SFX (sound effects) and dialogue subtitles is reminiscent of the silent movie era. The  physical comedy which includes a food fight and karate chops appeals to any Three Stooges Fan.

Application:

  • The folly of anger can quickly get out of hand.
  • Each of us has a responsibility to leave our egos at the door
  • Pride is at the center of most of our negative dealings with other people.
  • Once things are said, it’s impossible to take them back.

Suggested Uses:

  Mediation or in anticipation of potentially divisive discussion.

  Allows broaching the destructive issue of pride and its adverse impact at work, church, and home in a humorous, non-threatening way.
