Description

Theme:

The hope of the birth of Christ stirs a kinetic response within us.

Synopsis:

  • Black and white film reveals three characters in various states.
  • One character sits alone in a concrete expanse, one sits alone sipping coffee, another rides a bicycle.
  • Text from Isaiah 9 is displayed "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light..."
  • As the music builds, each character reaches a turning point.
  • The man on the concrete gets up and begins to run.
  • The woman also gets up, and walks to a mountain crossroad.
  • The woman on the bicycle stops at a crossroad and examines each path.
  • Eventually each character begins moving, running, bicycling, presumably toward the Christ child, or the idea and promise of Christ's birth.
  • Other characters are also introduced, all in kinetic movement, or running toward the new king.
  • Final text reveals 'The Christ has come.'

Conversation:

  • What is your response to the Christmas story?
  • What should one's response to the Christmas story be?
  • Should the knowledge of Christ stir movement in us? What sort of movement would that be?
  • Is the life of a Christ follower a life of knowledge, or a life of action?
  • How can the energy and symbolism of the true Christmas story sustain us throughout the year?
