Description

Theme:

Most of us inherently sense that a life exposed to diverse types of people is better for us than a mono-cultural existence. Yet, a life-experience of true diversity is hard to achieve.

Synopsis:

  • In this man-on-the-street documentary, we ask the following:
  • What is diversity?
  • What do you think of when you hear the word 'diversity'?
  • Do you think diversity is an important value?
  • How do you personally experience diversity?
  • What are some of the obstacles to achieving diversity?
  • One woman likens diversity to a rainbow, where all the colors retain their original identities but create a beautiful picture in total.
  • One man states that he experiences diversity when eats ethnic food.
  • A few different people agree that what keeps us from a diverse experience is simply fear.

Conversation:

  • If we assume that God created all people, and all types of people, why do we gravitate toward those who are like us?
  • Why is an exposure to diverse peoples important? Why is it important for the Christ-follower?
  • Can a true appreciation of diversity exist outside of a spiritual sense that God has created us?
  • Does diversity extend outside of racial / cultural identity? Why is it important for us to know and be known by people who are unlike us?
