Description

Main Point:  Patience is a virtue—some times important things in life take time to take root.

Synopsis:

  • An impatience young man can’t wait for the growing process for the impatiens he planted so he impetuously trades the real for the fake plants.
  • Video opens on a guy in a pink lawn chair on top of a city building. He considers the empty space and leaves camera shot to return with three plant pots. From there he retrieves planting soil, and a shovel and plants the flower seed.
  • Time passes and he is anxious that he has not seen growth—he digs up a seed, inspects it and throws it down from the building.
  • He then leaves returning with three medium sized fake plants but is not satisfied so he ultimately discards them for three fake trees before picking up his lawn chair and leaving.
  • Ultimately, all three fake trees fall down like dominos.
  • Filmed to show passage of time with black screens, the only sound is that of the city streets.

Application:

  • Life producing results take time.
  • When we are impatient, we usually trade in something real for something manufactured.
  • Patience is an important fruit in the life of the believer—without it maturity is impossible—as we tend to run from one thing to the next.

Suggested Uses:

  • Sermon starter on patience

Biblical Reference:
