Description

Main Point:  People don’t give a lot of thought to the most important questions.

Synopsis:

  • Kevin the interviewer engaging people in a series of trivia questions with some more eternally significant ones thrown in the mix.
  • Questions are light hearted and fun –and all over the map—topics include knowledge about the dry cleaning process, changing a tire, jump-starting a battery, the origins of birdseed, and the type of soil needed to raise azaleas.
  • Respondents are relaxed and not hostile when Kevin changes the line of questioning—but most seem content in their ignorance.
  • Spiritual questions range from how one finds eternal life, to what happens when you die, to how one acquires happiness, to whether or not God exists and the process of connecting – or talking with him.
  • People seem rather nonchalant in their beliefs that he may or may not exist. One guy in particular wants to believe but doesn’t know.
  • Campy style documentary with music and swirl and circle graphics reminiscent of late 60s and early 70s TV—fast paced and fun.

Application:

  • Seeker-friendly application as the video is non-threatening and disarming
  • Life’s most important questions are thrown in the mix and respondents seem to not be taken back or offended
  • Our approach to sharing the Gospel should be conversational—part of our ongoing conversation with people we know in a non-threatening way
  • Deep down inside it’s apparent that people want to believe –their hearts yearn to know their maker

Suggested Uses:

  • Appropriate as sermon starter – seeker friendly service
  • Great for evangelism class – how to engage people in conversational, relational way
