Description

Main Point:  In a world that celebrates celebrity and political heroes, Jesus Christ stands alone as Hero and Savior of the world.

Synopsis:

  • Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Ghandi, and Martin Luther King, Jr. were all heroic agents of change who died unjustly but only Jesus is the Messiah who died to save the world and rose triumphantly from the dead.
  • Inspirational, fast paced music serves as background to photos, vintage film footage, and news reels (for Gandhi and Martin Luther King).
  • Awe inspiring depiction of stone being rolled away from Jesus’ tomb.
  • Copy superimposed on the screen reads:

Abraham Lincoln born 1809

A hero who lived for Freedom

He stood against the brutality of slavery

And preserved a fragile nation.

In 1865 he was brutally assassinated

Mahatma Gandhi born 1869

A hero who lived for Peace

He fought a peaceful resistance against tyranny

And led his nation to independence

In 1948 he was gunned down by a fanatic

Martin Luther King born 1929

A hero who lived for Justice

He marched forward the civil rights movement

And made America truly the land of the free

In 1968 he was murdered in cold blood

Jesus Christ born circa 0 A.D.

The hero above all heroes

Jesus is Freedom, Peace, and Justice

Jesus is more than a leader

Jesus is more than a guru

Jesus is more than an icon

Jesus is the Messiah

Circa 33 A.D. Although fully God, He allowed himself to be crucified

Crucified for all sin

Brutality, tyranny, injustice, envy, deception, pride, lust, greed, gluttony

3 days later His tomb could not restrain Him

Our Hero Lives

Application:

  • Rousing presentation that only Jesus Christ is Lord.
  • The tomb is empty. The other heroes have gravesites.
  • Puts the role of others in a positive yet dim light compared to Jesus.
  • Excellent concise educational tool for young and old alike
  • Both Martin Luther King, Jr. and Abraham professed Jesus Christ as Lord. Ghandi was known to have said that based on the teachings of Jesus he would have become a Christian had he not known any.

 Suggested Uses:

  • President’s Day or Martin Luther King’s Birthday events or sermons.
  • Easter sermon starter
  • Evangelistic tool (putting Jesus in perspective)
